North Somerset Sport and Active Lifestyles team is seeking a highly motivated physical activity development professional to join its small team.
This role will make an important contribution to achieving the council's aim of enhancing health and wellbeing by supporting the development, delivery and targets of the team's service plan which focuses on specific demographic groups with high inactivity levels.
As part of the Corporate plan and People and Communities strategy this post will focus on increasing participation in physical activity amongst those at higher risk of poor health. The post will also plan projects that use physical activity and sport as a vehicle for improving outcomes in physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing, individual development, social and community development and economic development.
The post will specifically co-ordinate and provide support to delivery of local sport and physical activity projects such as Walking for Health, StreetGames, Inclusive Sport, Go4Life as well as National physical activity campaigns such as One You and Change4Life.
Specific responsibilities will change as capacity / support is required for physical activity, sport and healthy lifestyle behaviour change projects within the team and Council.
You will have:- Experience in physical activity, public health or community development co-ordinating and delivering a wide range of sports/physical activity projects.- Sport (Health, Fitness & Exercise) level 4 vocational qualification is essential and a level 5 is desirable.- National Governing Body qualifications are desirable.- Experience of delivering training to volunteers and stakeholders is desirable. - An ability to work within a team, develop new initiatives, monitor service targets, manage small delivery budget.- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
