About Us
The North Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSSCP) oversees the effectiveness of the North Somerset system for safeguarding children. As for all local authorities, it is a statutory and multi-agency partnership which includes representatives from North Somerset Council, Avon & Somerset Police and the Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board. We also have representatives from wider agencies such as: education and the voluntary and community sector.
The Role
The NSSCP are looking for a self-starter to join them as their dedicated multi-agency Training & Development Officer. This is a busy role where you will be working to design, develop and deliver several training packages and learning events to the NSSCP workforce.
This is a part-time, fixed term role for 2 years.
You will be experienced and confident in the design and delivery of safeguarding related training, and passionate about wanting to improve outcomes for children in our community.
You will effectively develop and manage relationships with other teams and our external partners to promote effective partnership working. Working collaboratively, you will identify training needs and design and develop new content, ensuring it is evidence-based and of a high quality for our workforce.
You will be a self-starter who enjoys working at pace. This is a varied role, and you will be expected to deliver against our annual NSSCP workforce training programme and report on its success to the NSSCP Executive.
You will be a person who values relationship and is comfortable working with a range of different people, including senior leaders and those who have lived experience of our safeguarding services.
You will be familiar with the Children Act, Working Together to Safeguard Children and a restorative, strengths based, trauma informed approach to safeguarding our children and young people.
This role requires organisation and the ability to deliver on pieces of work and to work effectively under pressure. You will be passionate and driven in helping us achieve best practice in safeguarding our area by prioritising the effective use of resources.

In this role, you will develop, provide, and coordinate training for professional development of safeguarding knowledge for individuals and organisational safeguarding programmes. You may be involved with managing resources (budget and/or people).
Key Responsibilities:
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
